Trump loses latest round on golf resort (MSNBC)- Golf News

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Donald Trump stands on Scottish dunes that have become a battleground over his plans for a golf resort. EDINBURGH, Scotland - A Scottish council on Thursday rejected a plan by Donald Trump to build a golf course on a stretch of remote and stunning coastline that is home to some of the country’s rarest birds. Trump is shocked, extremely disappointed and dismayed at this decision,” said George Sorial, managing director of Trump International Golf Resorts. After a heated debate lasting 2 1/2 hours, Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Committee rejected plans for the Trump International Golf Links after a tie-breaking vote from the committee chair. A week ago, Trump and his organization were jubilant when another council committee approved the golf course in a 7-4 vote. La Purisima Golf Course project review postponed (Santa Maria Times)(Golf News)

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

The scheduled conceptual review of a proposed resort hotel and privately owned “casitas” at La Purisima Golf Course was postponed today by the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission, at the request of its staff. The planning staff wasn’t yet ready to present its analysis of the proposal by landowners Ken Hunter III and his partners to build an 80-room resort hotel and 85 casitas on vacant portions of the golf course property. With a fine-dining restaurant, wine bar, spa and shops, the proposed Posada Santa Rita de La Purisima resort would “have a wine country theme,” according to Hunter, a Santa Ynez resident who is the course’s principal partner. Except for some improvements to cart paths for emergency access, the golf course and clubhouse wouldn’t be altered by the proposed development.
