Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Quiksilver sells Cleveland Golf for $132. The move comes as Quiksilver is looking to strengthen its core brands, which are aimed toward surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. Quiksilver will use the proceeds to pay down debts. Quiksilver originally acquired a portion of the interest in Cleveland in its July 2005 acquisition of the Rossignol Group. Quiksilver then later acquired the rest of the company in a separate transaction in September. Vijay Singh, Ken Duke and Woody Austin are among the golfers that are sponsored by Cleveland. read more

VOLVO MASTERS, Club de Golf Valderrama, Sotogrande, Cadiz, Spain - The race for the 2007 European Tour Order of Merit crown ends this week with the last event of the season, the Volvo Masters. Craig Kanada chipped in on the last two holes — for par at the 17th and birdie at the 18th — and beat Andrew Buckle and Matt Kuchar by two shots to claim his second title of the season and earn enough money to make the PGA Tour. Only the top 60 players on the money list make the field, with the top 25 at the end of the tournament earning PGA Tour cards for next season. read more
