Which is the best putter?
Monday, May 26th, 2008Ping revolutionized the golf putter market with its Anser putter some 30 years ago, and since then competitors have tried all sorts of combinations to provide a better putter.
The Ping was a blade putter with a flange behind it to give more weight, and a slot behind the blade. The idea of this slot was that the blade would deflect slightly on impact, but as it curved a little, it would tend to make off-center putts go straighter. It was very successful.
