Great courses south of Perth, Western Australia

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

South of Perth are plenty of golf courses, stretching from Kwinana and Rockingham down to Mandurah and Bunbury.

One of the best is Kennedy Bay, a great links course. Also, there is a fine inland course at Mandurah Country Club. Kennedy Bay is near Rockingham, to the south of Perth, and is one of the few true links courses in the area. It is a long course.

There are are plenty of humps and hollows and pot bunkers which can catch any hsots that are not right on line. The greens are good.

How to Swing the Golf Club Inside Out

Do you want to hit the ball further? See the ball fly with a nice draw, cutting through the wind, and going past your friends’ tee shots?

If you do – and most of us do – then you need to get rid of that slice and hit the ball with a draw. Don’t confuse the draw with a hook. When you hook the ball it flies low and curves sharply to the left, and is the opposite to the slice.

Great golf in Western Australia -1

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Western Australia is a great place to play golf. Not only are many championship length, but they are fairly inexpensive. There are plenty of courses within 10 miles of the Perth city centre, including Royal Perth and Royal Fremantle, but if you go a bit further north or south, you will find more great courses.

These are both parkland courses, with fairly short but good grass on the fairways, and large trees on each side. The ground around the trees is often scrub or soft sand, which takes some skill to get out of well.
